gyaku yunyu

I am reading the book "Japanoise: Music at the Edge of Circulation" by David Novak and discovered the band Boredoms from it. It is not Noise music, just "noisy", but it has some cool ass album cover artworks. Also, I have learned about the gyaku yunyu phenomenon. It roughly translates to "reverse importation" and means that when a Japanese artist gains fame and approval on the scenes in other countries, only after that they find approval at their home country. So, when, for example, the Kansai Noise scene found its success in the mid-90s in North America, suddenly they found a lot of attention, even from Japanese television.

Just a little bit of knowledge for me to remember and share with you.

If you want the book, email me, I am happy to share ;)
